Ready to kickstart your UKRN dream? We've listed a few requirements you can work on to ensure the quickest application possible:
Valid Passport
A passport is used to travel to and from a particular foreign country. This must-bring document must be valid for 6 months upon your arrival to the U.K. If your passport has already expired or you still need one, you may conveniently book an appointment online at www.passport.gov.ph. All you need to do is fill out the application form and then complete all the required documents that serve as a requirement for you to get your passport.
PRC License
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) License is mandated too. And just like your passport, the PRC license must be valid for 6 months upon your arrival to the U.K. If the license has already expired, you can apply for renewal at www.prc.gov.ph.
English Language Exam
You must first pass the English Language Exam to qualify for any NHS Trusts and a U.K. visa. Some nurses prefer to take the International English Language Test System (IELTS) as it is known as the "gold standard." In contrast, some nurses prefer the Occupational English Test (OET) as it is specific to the healthcare profession so that they can relate and apply their knowledge and experience in the exam. Nonetheless, it is still up to you which exam you prefer and are confident about passing. Don't worry; IELTS and OET are both accepted by the U.K.'s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
NMC's Computer-Based Test (CBT)
You must pass both NMC's Test of Competence to be fully qualified, valid for 5 years. Those tests are Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). As part of your U.K. application process, you must pass the CBT and, afterward, take and pass the OSCE once you arrive in the U.K. The good thing is that NHS Professionals will assist and help nurses focus on their preparation for passing the exam by covering the costs of the OSCE exam up to 2 attempts, training, and accommodation.
Relevant Work Experience
Of course, experience in a nursing role is a must. Work experience is a primary requirement when applying for a job abroad. By gaining relevant work experience of at least 12 months, you will be able to use and analyze the scenario questions by the employer. You'll manage to practice and enhance your skills regarding exposure to equipment, cases you've handled, and procedures that will help you transition to a new setting, an even more advanced hospital facility.
